This design was an exercise in simple character animation. Animating a character without the aid of motion capture can be challenging and time consuming.
The idea here was to make the character's movements feel natural without the aid of motion capture. I didn't fully succeed but I'm improving.

It looks very natural to me. But when it comes to realism, I'm afraid you can't beat motion capture. Maybe we should exploit the effects that are impossible to do with motion capture. Like weird joint angles. Or poses that beat the laws of gravity.

Another creative strategy could be to animate robots. This always looks natural because we all know robots can do everything 🤖
