Used this exploding sphere: skfb.ly... and spiced it up with a bump map. Duplicated the layer. The one in the foreground (play with depth bias) set to dark without glow and in the background fiery bright with glow. Animated the title's fragment explosion accordingly. The whole text was set to glow. Black doesn't glow, but the burning inside does.
