Dani, vincent, snafu and 9 others like this!
This show is not a template, but used to stress test the landscape layer, the colourmap layer and the plasma layer. Test shows are normally pretty boring, but I find this one fascinating to watch. Maybe you'll find it interesting too!
The landscape layer uses the AdvancedMaterials\ColourmapDisplacementmapReflectionmap effect.
This effect uses the 1st texture as the colourmap and the 2nd as the displacementmap. In this show, both point to a colourmap layer. Select the landscape layer and press F9 to see how this works.
The 1st colourmap layer renders the displacementmap.
The plasma layer is set to HDR displacementmap (2nd dropdown below the textbox). To save memory, this generates a texture with only a red channel. Black means low, red means high.
The 2nd colourmap layer renders the colourmap.
The plasma layer is identical to the one in the 1st colourmap, except for the effect. In this case, the Filters\Posterize effect is applied to render the contour lines. Again, press F9 for the details.
To check the output of the 2 colourmap layers, they are rendered by 2 picture layers in the top left (layer 4) and top right (layer 5). The Filters\WhiteBorder effect is applied to see the borders.
Most fun to play with is the cartoonmap in the plasma layer of the 2nd colourmap (layer 12).
