I also wanted to do my test, but for the edge I used an EPS layer, for objects always positioned along the edge. This is because the edge is moved outside the writing. Could it be done in another way?
That's not so bad as is ! We certainly can do better but we'd need a few more time with layers

Tubular square/round
The outline is drawn as a tube. Use the Bevel property to adjust the radius of the tube.
