Ilja, Decentralized, Ulli and 6 others like this!
Some models are a bit matte. The model designer used dark colours, dark textures or not enough contrast.
Here are 4 ways to fix this:
1) Use COLOUR prop values higher than 255
2) Add an extra (point) light layer
3) Set the COLOUR INTENSITY prop of the camera layer higher than 1
4) Add a bit of glow (mark the GLOW checkbox in the LAYER > ACTIVE LAYER PROPERTIES dialog and fine-tune the effect with the GLOW props of the camera layer)
Clearly this is a spectrum. Overdoing this can make it look cheap/kitschy. And doing it the other way round can make it look serious/artistic. The challenge is to find the right balance for the project.
The model can be found here:

Here are 3 shows to play around with the settings:
Traditionally, colour components are 8 bit. This means a maximum value of 255. So white is (255, 255, 255) and red is (255, 0, 0). Many apps, including BluffTitler, still use this system.
Graphics cards however work with floating point numbers. So when you enter 255, it is converted to 1.0. And when you enter 383 (with the textbox to the right of the slider), it is converted to 1.5.
