Michiel's eye for the dramatic is usually right. So I reimagined the scene after his spectacular still images. Camera fog makes all the difference. I removed the biggest part of the ceiling. Now the robot casts a shadow, too. Furthermore I added some manual animations to the arm and hand of the robot.

Here's the hallway without the hose on the floor, or the robot.

FANTASTIC show! I like it!

The moment the robot pops out of the fog (in this case probably toxic aerosols) is magical!

It's amazing how good lighting can improve a scene!

Very scary scene.

Thank you chaver, LB, Michiel and Filip.

And special thanks to Decentralized for separating the models and making it available to download.

Michiel, I just followed your lead and had so much fun seeing the scene unfold. Interesting that the lighting in animation alone is a very serious profession. It really makes the difference. The Pixar clip linked in the article explains it in a nutshell. The robot damaged a conduit filled with those toxic aerosols on purpose to cut off the only escape route. 😁
