In Layer Properties "Never cast Shadow", I would assume that applies to everything inside that layer?
Inside my Scroller layer I had turn off shadows for the text. Is this correct? If so, why can this property be set at container level?
Yes, when you mark the NEVER CAST SHADOWS checkbox in the LAYER > ACTIVE LAYER PROPERTIES... dialog, all its child layers are affected as well.
