@Michiel: Can you make it possible to use a colourmap for a Picture layer that is attached to another colourmap. Or to attach a colourmap to another colourmap?
This is already possible. Simply point to the colourmap you want to use in the MEDIA > CHANGE TEXTURE... dialog.
The screens pack heavily uses this technique:

I want to link the Colourmap layer (layer 9) to the Picture layer (Layer 8)

@Michiel it works, but I had to type the text <Colourmap 9>.
The <Colourmap> dropdown is greyed out.

The SELECT COLOURMAP button in the F8 dialog is disabled if the active layer is a child of a colourmap to prevent the shows from getting too complex.
If you know what you are doing you can enter the URL by hand, as I have pointed out above.
The nested colourmaps of the Screens pack have been created by merging shows using a colourmap into a colourmap (<CONTROL> M).
