Michiel is it possible to make a star shaped plasma layer style in the layer style dropdown menu?
This can be done with the Star effect:
-choose the menu item LAYER > Add layer > Add picture layer...
-choose the menu item MEDIA > Change effect... and select the ProceduralTextures\Star effect
-play around with the FX props.
