Clever and well designed use of the V11_DogEars effect!
Note that you can turn any font into a mono space font by setting the 1st dropdown of the text layer to FIXED SPACE. Use the SPACING prop to set the distance between the letters.
Here's another effect that automates the process by putting all the pictures in a single texture:
