Good work Yousef!!!
No problem for me with XP (SP3 Family). Just a thing : Maybe some messages when the job is done will be useful. Anyway thanks for this program.

Thanks for the ecouragement. I agree a message will be useful. I shall consider this for future releases.
Please post any interesting sketches you make.

Nice utility!

In the manual you are saying that next to the line and the sphere you will add more shapes in the future.

Maybe you can develop a few algorithms to turn a 2D shape into a 3D sketch. Like turning a circle into a sphere, or a square into a cube. This way you can easily add all kinds of shapes including hearts, arrows, frames, stars and even letters and logos!

Next to developing the 2D shape to 3D sketch algorithms you will have to find a way to import the 2D shapes. Since parsing EPS files is insanely complex maybe you can trace bitmaps. (which unfortunaly isn't trivial as well)

A graphical user interface would also be nice!

Good luck with the project. If you need technical assistence please let me know!

One way of turning a 2D shape into a 3D sketch could be the "bird's nest effect". This may be a bit over the top example, but I think it shows how creative and wild you can be in developing such effects:

You could also consider adding export to 3DS or other 3D file formats. This way not only BluffTitler users, but all 3D designers can use your utility.

For example, I think 3DS MAX users will be interested in a "2D outline to 3D bird's nest" utility. I have no idea if this already exists, but I'm sure you can come up with a few cool "2D outline to 3D tube" effects that do not yet exist.

Thanks Michiel for the advise. I shall look into this although it sounds complex. I am most interested in your suggestion of creating a 3D export so any links or info in this field will be great. Some of the new objects I had in mind are spirographs and knots. Tubes and revolving 2d sketches around the x or y axis are on my list of things to do.
A GUI to set the parameters and generate the scripts would be nice but I can not see myself doing a preview of the sketch at the moment.
What would be helpful is to raise the 60,000 budget limit on rendering sketches layers.

Yousef, maybe the 3DS format is the best export option.

Here's the file format description of the 3DS format:

The 60.000 budget limit is because some graphics cards can't handle more than 2^16 = 65.536 indices per mesh.

One solution could be to split the mesh into 2 or more meshes. The current version of BT does not yet do this.

Another solution is to optimize the sketch by removing small curves by straight lines. This can be done by BT as well as by Mathsketch.
