NextPreviousHomeHow to create and reuse your own effects in BluffTitler

B.Projects, jopin, michiel and 3 others like this!

I noticed there were a number of folks who wanted to know if there was a way they could reuse effects, that they had created in a previous show, in a new show they were working on. Unfortunately, there is no menu item that allows you to do this, but there is a simple way to achieve the same result. You can also create your own library using this procedure.

First, open a new show. Create the effect you want. Delete all layers that do not directly pertain to the effect you wish to save. Which means, delete camera, light, text, etc. layers, which do not pertain to your effect.

Save the Show. You may want to create a separate folder, and save all of your effect shows there to create a library for yourself.

Now, when you are creating a new show, and wish to use one of your saved effects, you simply press [Ctrl]+[M] to merge the desired effect show and your current show.

Hope this helps.

Great tutorial, thanks!

The red screen at 1:24 is an interesting one.

I think it's conceptually right that nothing should be rendered when there's no camera layer. Maybe a red screen is a bit too aggressive but you should be informed about this.

A show with a fully red thumbnail however looks silly. I see 2 options:
1) When pressing [Ctrl]+[M], a dialog is presented asking you if you would like to merge the camera and light layers as well.
2) If no camera layer is present, a default camera is used.

What do you think?

Another option of course, is to delete the camera and light layers after merging.

I noticed that when you press [Ctrl]+[M], the standard Windows file dialog is used instead of the BluffTitler dialog with the nice thumbnails. We will fix this in the next version.

(You will be able to overrule this by marking the USE STANDARD WINDOWS FILE DIALOG checkbox in the SETTINGS > OPTIONS dialog)

i think the better is to give the choice (delete or not delete) to preserve aspect when we merge a show with more than one active lights.
About open fileDialog box do you think it would be possible to implement a recent or favorite folders listbox as we can find in some softwares, to prevent to lost time browsing between folders.

Hi, Thank you for the tutorial.
Any particle, eps, sketch, picture,vj,particle dissolve, all effects in different shows when ever you like the effects, simply save them as your presets by choosing Go to Preset -----Save preset as, when you want them you can Load your presets, bt takes that preset as thumbnail so you can simply identify them. i usually do this , this is a great time saver. sorry for My English....
Thank you
Dani.

Dani is right, the best option is to save the preset particles.
Combine two shows also is a good choice, but we must eliminate everything that we do not need.

Presets have a limitation: they can contain only a single layer.

Yes Michiel i agree with you,
Though it is useful.

Great tutorial, didn't know this one.

Thanks for the comments guys, and thank you Michiel.

Yes, when I use [Ctrl] + [M] to merge, I don't get the option asking about the camera and light layers, but as you say... next version.

I do think though, that it would be nice if there were a default 'Preview' camera which could be used to 'fly' around and view your 3D creation, layer and model relative positions, without creating key frames.
