NextPreviousHomeWARNING: Windows update kills fonts

The latest Windows update (December 13th 2012) breaks fonts with Postscript contours. Those fonts no longer work in apps that need access to those contours, including BluffTitler.

Examples of such fonts are Bebas neue and Androgyne, which are used in some BixPack templates.

I'm sure Microsoft will fix this error in a next update, but for now, if you want to make those fonts work again, what you have to do is to uninstall this update:

KB2753842 (described as a security update)

This page explains how you can do this:

Yea...what a trip this one is!

Just about to finalize a project and poof! Where did my fonts go???

Thankfully, I also found the source of the problem in time and deleated it.

--Heads Up-- the delete got me throught the presentation...but, the darn thing [naught update] loaded itself again with next system re-boot!

Make sure your settings regarding ms updates is set properly before you proceed with the un-install.

If you want to find out if a specific font is affected (other than selecting it in BluffTitler):
1) go to the C:\Windows\Fonts folder
2) double click on the font file
3) if you can see the text "Postscript contours" it is probably no longer usable since the latest Windows update.

Fonts using TrueType en OpenType contours are not affected.
