I am trying to find a way to get a laser beam effect to draw onto a Picture Layer.

Is this possible?

The trick is to use additive blending.

-Draw a laser beam in Photoshop (or any other paint application)
-Import this picture in BluffTitler by pressing the ADD PICTURE LAYER... button
-Press the CHANGE EFFECT... button and select the NotLightened_Additive.fx effect

You can move the laser by animating the POSITION property.

You can make the flare1.jpg texture (that comes with the installer) look like a laserbeam by setting the SCALE property to (1, 0.05, 1)

You can colour the laser with the COLOUR property.

But maybe you find it easier to design the laser in Photoshop so that you don't have to mess with the SCALE and COLOUR properties.

I will give this a try.

What I am trying to do is use the laser beam as a pencil to "burn" letters onto an image. Will I be able to do that?

Maybe this show can get you started:

It looks like sketch effects can only be produced as eps files.
So do I have to buy Bixelangelo to do sketch work?

Yes.

When you write "scale" you mean "size"?
I don't see a scale setting.
