I need a little guidance to go on the right direction. I need to create the feet of Daniel 2 statue (Bible). The feet are of iron (metal) mixed with clay/mud. I'd like to have the bumpy texture of mud, and for it to be as realistic as possible.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Truly appreciate the kindness of this community.

Cheers!

Interesting project. I'd like to see the end result.

So you want the contrast between shiny feet and dirty mud?

I would use a model like this (download the GLB format):
sketchfab.com...

Use a metal texture like this:
ambientcg.com...

And a mud texture like this:
ambientcg.com...

The feet can be rendered with a model layer. Use the AdvancedMaterials\NormalMapper effect, place the colour map in the 1st texture slot and the normal map in the 2nd. The 3rd slot accepts a cube map for the reflections, use Cubemap.dds from the installer. The textures and effect can be set in the same dialog: outerspace-software.com...

Play around with the FX props, for example use the FX TEXTURE SIZE prop to scale the texture.

The mud can be rendered with a particle layer attached to the feet, using the 3D BLOBS style. Again use the NormalMapper effect, but this time without a cube map because mud is not shiny.

Here's a quick mockup. Still lots to fine-tune, but I hope the basic idea is clear.

Interesting! Maybe with an AI? Do you want only he feet? You can freely use Meshy if you use this link. meshy.ai...

You can use multilayer technique, one model with the metal texture and a duplicated with the clay texture (brief example above)

I think you have the solution, Vincent. I could build the whole statue right and the feet was also a problem.
You beat the AI with miles.

Wow! You all went beyond what I had even planned—amazing work! I missed a very important detail. I’ve been working with a PNG file, and you might even laugh when you see the image. We own a printing company, so I was primarily focused on the final print output.

I showed the project to a client, and they pointed out that the feet need improvement—they don’t look great at all. The final image will be sold as a 2x5-foot print, along with other size variations. After seeing the level of quality you’ve achieved, I’d really love something in 3D with that same high standard. Please take a look at what I have.

Very nice picture !
With BluffTitler you could work on the feet in a 3D environment and take advantage of its possibilities and then export result as pictures (1pic per foot) then merge these pictures with the rest of your pic.

Vincent, Yes! I really liked the examples you and Michiel shared. That pretty much made me think on doing the whole project in 3D. I have very, very little 3D experience. I tried Meshy as suggested by Flip, and was very impressed by the result. I did end up going back to my 2D PNG and started playing around last night. I was able to "improve" the image a bit.

I am grateful for all of you, and your willingness to help. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
