Creating a "lower third" isn't that hard: a transparant logo, a gradient bar, a tickertape and you're finished.
In BluffTitler you can use the picture layer for the logo and the gradient bar. With the scroller layer you can make a ticker tape. I'll try to create something and post it to the gallery later this week.

Thanks for asking! We're currently working on a utility that can convert all kinds of panorama formats, including Apple's QuickTime VR into the DirectX .DDS format.
The big advantage of the DDS format is that you can use it not only for panoramic backgrounds, but also for reflection mapping!
