komies and vincent like this!

@Michiel is it possible to create a path in Bixelangelo with doths that connect and reveal the underlying text or (Line) picture.
I have bought Doodly and this software uses this functionality.

Creating Custom Draw Paths

It would be a great addition!

Coincidence? I'm working on a similar project that requires a handwritten effect.

And I too was thinking that the Bixangelo and Blufftitler have the ingredients and just needed a "reveal path effect" for BluffTitler (a writer effect that reveals the image following the set path) where you can add the image and a property setting for the thickness of the pen or brush stroke (now it can also be animated).

A "connect the dots" option would be great, but since the image is revealed, you can't draw what isn't there in the image already, a "rough" sketch path is enough to get the desired effect that could be finetuned with the Reveal path effect property "thickness". This would increase the workflow exponentially than to painstakingly trace the image with great accuracy and be mindful how to write and write over the same path and at what point the pen or brush leaves the page.

I found several solutions on how to tackle this effect in many other graphic software and most are costly and time consuming, and I believe this is a great effect that BluffTitler can excel at, and since Bixangelo 4 it is indeed in the realm of possibility.

Just think about it,
THANK YOU FOR YOUR FEATURE REQUEST, Filip

The workflow would be:

Type in BluffTitler your text and choose a font to your licking.
Save this as a transparent image.
Open Image in Bixangelo as "load background picture..."
Draw free hand over the text as you would write it loosely, edit sketch if necessary.
Save sketch as Handwritten text.
Open in BluffTitler the sketch and press F9 and select image and the NEW Reveal Path effect.
And animate (writer effect) Reveal Path property.
Set in properties the thickness for accuracy.
DONE.

Since you can scale the image and the sketch separately, alignment would not be an issue but a auto alignment would be great.

emmm... a video example....

I can't show you a video example of an effect that isn't made yet.

It's a call/request to Michiel to think about making this new effect (CFX)

But I found this site which gives you an idea how it would work but this is for Premiere pro but the concept is the same.

I did this....
in practice, it takes an effect that use the "mask" method of the EPS and let it pass
the background and other object covering only one layer.
In this test I use sketch layer with same color background.

@Michiel

I believe that with my suggestion we can do as in this video, but much faster and more options like using physics effect.

In Bixelangelo there is no need to draw "the off page path"
Therefore it is also very useful for non-script letters.
In Bixelangelo there is no need to be that neat at drawing and editing the lines, overlap that may occur from crossing lines can be solved within Blufftitler with the pen/brush thickness animated on certain points but choosing the right font style might be key if it needs to be fast.

Very interesting to have this function to draw sketch dot by dot. A must have in Bixelangelo 4.1

Another test

I'm a newbie with doodly. but this is an example,,, of course BluffTitler/Bixelangelo will do a much better job, isn't it Michiel?? ?

Thank you for your request!

Realize that "the dots that must be connected" are visible in edit mode: choose EDIT > EDIT SKETCH. In this mode, the dots can be moved, deleted and added.

@Michiel

Do you think a image reveal by sketch animation is in the realm of possibilities with Bixangelo and BluffTitler as described above?

It is a long requested effect "handwriting", and there are numerous apps floating around because whiteboard animations are populair.

I believe that both apps are already very close to make this request a reality.

Sure.

Maybe we have focused to much on exciting new 3D effects and have neglected the old traditional 2D effects.

For me it starts with necessity, then how to accomplish this desired effect.

And while I was looking around, after making some sketches in Bixelangelo, for a handwritten tool to do calligraphed font app, I found that instruction how to do this in Premiere Pro and after realizing that is just a picture reveal by sketch path I thought Outerspace can do this better and faster with I believe little effort (not a programmer).

And while looking at apps and there are quite a lot that range from free to several hundred euro's per year. And looking at pure speed of the workflow makes the combination of Bixelangelo with BluffTitler a great contender.

Bonus there are a lot of free vector sites that have material to tell a story and with this new effect make it a more exciting to watch. There is a reason why whiteboard animation are still hot right now.

And with the versatile nature of BluffTitler it can add numerous of effects that other whiteboard apps just can't provide like 3D.

For my project I can use the premiere pro solution, but I saw the potential and I would be great for Bluffers to have in there toolbelt when they need it and/or be inspirited to make new shows with this new effect.

Sincerely yours,

Komies

In my opinion, if you could have a level in Bixelangelo like "onion"
which shows a sheet with the image to be overwritten
it may already be a solution.
There should also be the possibility in BluffTitler to put as texture all that is behind the level to hide (as I did in my examples)
This would already be enough to get the effect because we have the "sketch" with the size of the pen.
I was thinking of a "mask" effect that already exists for the scketch layer!
