NextPreviousHomeMaking a show with transparent background

I'm looking at doing something with the hands show 'Magic Trick.bt', I want to change the text (know how to do that), remove the background, or make it transparent, so just the hands and text can be overlayed on a video I'm working on in VEGAS PRO. I've tried deleting the plasma layer but it still shows up as a black background after it's been saved to the .avi file.

Yes Komies, I've done a search on 'transparent background' and pulled up several articles where Franco had some similar questions but there's a lot of discussion about alpha channels and also about adjusting the transparency slider but I'm not getting it. There is no transparency slider for the plasma layer, that I can find anyway.

Bottom Line Question is: How can I make the background transparent ?

Mike, once you have deleted plasma you must export in uncompressed AVI with transparency, then you insert generated video in Vegas and you right-click on video block then you click on properties and you select premultiplied alpha channel.
Warning : In the track window you video with transparency must be placed above other tracks (must have a lower track number)

Whoa !!! awesome. I missed the Export uncompressed transparency out of BT so that was an easy fix. However I don't think I would have ever thought about right clicking on that video track while in VEGAS PRO and finding the ALPHA Channel option, let alone selecting the 'premultiplied' option. That worked perfectly. I have a titled I want to show in my Rib Making video. It'll be interesting to see how well it shows up.

Thanks again.

OK, I got the transparency taken care of. Now after the hands open up and show the text I want to use I tried making a separate show with the hands closing by using the reverse all layers technique that Y'All showed me in another posting. However when the hands are closing the text shows through the hands and when I try and adjust the transparency at this position only the center portion of the text is affected. I've also tried adjusting the depth bias thinking that might have had something to do with it but no luck. I also tried adjusting the position of the text further back but when I adjust the 3rd slider it warps the text in the center. I've looked to see if a special effects was applied to the text but I don't see anything. This doesn't happen when the show is played 'forward'. The text appears fine then. Suggestions ?

Congratulations, MrGruntHunter you've found an exception!

The effect is a combination of transparency with flexibility.
The Flexibility is set on 1, 0,5 ,0 which translate to 1 second delay from 1st to last letter and 0,5 is start from the middle.

THERE IS NO SETTING FOR FLEXIBILITY TO START FROM BOTH ENDS TOWARDS THE MIDDLE. And that is the crux.

Here is a solution based on the original MagicTrick.bt Reversed:

On layer 5 (First Text Layer) stand on the second key select transparency and press reset.
Select Flexibility and select reset.
Mark All Layers, Press F9 and select effect Special\GradientFeather.cfx
Select FX Clip Left,Right property, Mark all layers and change value from -300, 300, 0 to 0, 0, 0
Move this key to the end at 03:00. (because the 1 second flexibility delay is gone)

Good Luck and Have Fun and how where the B.B.Q. ribs?

Have you tried putting a second copy of the clip into Sony Vegas and having it play in reverse?
