Hi all, everytime I create a text and apply the effect "blur", the text disappears.
Ideas?
Greetings,
Wolfgang
The blur effect requires a graphics card that supports pixel shader 3.0.
Press F9 to find out if your hardware is up to the task.

Some video drivers say that they do not support shader 3 when in fact they do.
For this reason BT does not display a "this show will not play correctly because your graphics card does not support shader 3.0" error message.

My graphics card is a ATI 4650 bought Feb 2009. I just tried again and pressed F9, BT told me my graphics card should be capable to do the job.
Ideas? Does the blur effect work with all fonts?

The blur effect only affects the texture. For this reason it does not matter if you're using this effect in a text layer, a picture layer, a sketch layer or any other layer that is using a texture. The font is totally irrelevant.
I'm currently using the exact same graphics card (an ATI Radeon HD 4650) and experience no problems, so that's strange.

Strange, I tried and have the same issue as Wolfgang. My ATI 4870 with the latest driver. The text turn to black color . Can see the text when add a picture layer or add border to it or add a plasma layer. The blur effect slider like has no fx effect.

OK, when applied a texture to the text, the blur effect blur the texture. The text is not blurred. This is a texture blur effect!

Maybe a text blur can be a new fx request. We can have a gaussian blur for text horizontal and vertical

So, if I understood this correctly, I have two choices when trying to use this BLUR effect:
1 use a bitmap font
2 texture a vector font, texture it and blur the texture
If so, I would like to support bylaws request

Another option is to use the blur effect as a post-processing effect. You can do that by applying the blur effect to the camera layer.

Both the suggested options work great. But the request for the gaussian blur fx for the text with horizontal and vertical parameters gives a different result.

Just tested, great!
