I add a video layer and try to put a text layer over it, but the video layer stays as the top layer.
Thought of using containers - Put the video layer in a container and put the text layer into another container. Even though the text container is above the video, the text will not render over the video.
Pulling my hair out on this one. Any ideas?
Selina,
Works good now, but noticed a lot of pixelization when rendering the show.
Any ideas?

See also the resolution of the show. what is the resolution ?
Maybe you can try HD 1920 x 1080 and reexport video

Tried that. Exported with different settings. Matched the background video resolution and went so far as the frame rate. Still get pixelization in the video part only.
The clip already has a blur in it and that could render the show incomprehensible.
Think I'll just render the text with a transparent backing and see if I can overlay in either Openshot or AE.

How do you play your video ? video player, NLE, youtube, or other device ? youtube reencoding and compression produce sometimes pixelisation

The size of the video layer indeed depends on the size property. But it also depends on its positon, the camera position and the camera field of view.
And yes, it's best to export with transparency info and do the mixing in your NLE.
