...but don't remember which movie

I remember seeing a movie intro in which each letter in the title appeared individually on the screen, but only after the letter changed rapidly many times. So, let's say the movie title is "NMP", in the first spot for a letter first you see letters changing rapidly, then eventually it stops on N, same for the next letter, etc. I assume this could be achieved by having a text layer with A up for a fraction of a second, then another layer with G, and so on creating many, many text layers each of which is only up for a fraction of a second. But I am wondering if there is a better way to do this. Dynamic content maybe? (about which I don't know much)

I realize that my description is... less than stellar, but hopefully someone understands what I mean and can help me. If you need clarification on what I said I'll be happy to try. In the mean time I will keep looking for an example, which would be most helpful.

Thank you,
Lee

Have you tried the ENCRYPT property?

And by combining this effect with the FLEXIBILITY property you can make the characters stop one after the other.

Here's an example:
