Hello and everybody a healthy and successful new Year 2016! :-)
I have questions concerning animation of 3D Models and Avatars.
1. First to the avatars:
a) The png - picture for modifying is very small. Is this only for square-dots or is it possible to create round and smooth designs on it?
b) Is it possible to change the model and the texture in rounded shapes (body, arms, legs, head) and still have the same animation?
2. Bix animation effect - Other 3D Models
I tested different human 3D Models with the bix effect. Indeed I could move the human legs with it. Of course not really human like :-)
The moving of the arms was not possible.
Is something in planning to create for the community a new effect for animating human or human-like models?
This would be a very interesting feature for making kind of cartoon / animation videos...
3. Changing BIX Model:
Is it possible to leave bix´s arms and legs, but modify a different head and eyes? I suppose then the arms and legs would be the same animation possible, is it right?
Maybe the eyes (horizontal) would make problems?!?
Regards,
Detlev
What you are talking about is character animation, which is a whole different animal in the 3d world. Yes I also wish that i could add characters and add motion to them by .bvh like poser and blender etc.
the walk effect is specially made for bix, you can make the character model as close as possible in a 3d software like blender so the height and limbs are a match but it will still look not real.
the avatar is also a preset model but the texture can be enlarged in proportion so you have more pixels to give the still rectangle model more detailed but that is it.
And please leave the head on our beloved Bix,
If you want to do character animation do it with the right tools and blender and makehuman are open source solutions others are very expensive for a hobby.
good luck

Thank you very much for your answer, komies! :-)
A question to michiel:
Do you planned to create a walking/moving effect für human 3D Models?

Any 3D model can be brought to life with a matching effect.
The problem with a general effect that can animate all models is that you need lots of properties to make it fit: hip position, neck position, elbow position, knee position,.... Only practical way is probably to make a tool that can generate an effect for a specific model.
And yes, we would love to create such a tool:
