I'm trying to create an effect that would take a text string of reasonable length, say 25 or 30 characters max, and scramble the letters in some random way. The letters could behave in any of several ways during this, such as shuffling, flying, spinning, etc.
I'd reverse the resultant exported video. For example the input HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOBY
might be output by BT as
TB YRHPABIYAT DHPOY
and I'd reverse that to get the original.
A possibly superior alternative would be to simply have the letters fly in from random directions, maybe spinning, and end up forming the required string. (I can do that, in 2D, with an old program I have called MemoriesOnTV.)
Are there any existing templates that get me anywhere near these please?

I think the ENCRYPT property will make you happy.
You can find it in the text layer, in the dropdown above the 3 sliders.
Use the 1st slider to encrypt your text.
