misterbrains, julio solano, Dani and 5 others like this!
Never been much for loading "Show Off" skits, I'm more into the mechanical graphics thing and the "How to" articles. Still, since I'm playing around with BT11 anyway, I figured why not!
This is really good... lots of visual leverage! I had trouble converting this model, what software do you use for your conversions to .x?

Oh Yeah.

Joel, I used Blender. The link attached to the second post is to the .x file already broken down into 4 sub-models.
1 = Housing
2 = Screen backer
3 = Screen
4 = The bands

Thanks for the heads-up BillyJack. I've been using Rhino3D. It works fairly well for the most part, but blender sounds like a nice alternative. Thanks again :)

Working on a Blender "How to" tutorial now. Detailed without being too overwhelming in the instructions is taking me some time, but it's coming along nicely and should be ready in the coming weeks. Perhaps even by this weekend, now that I'm done with the state basketball tournament.

WELL DONE!
Did you use a rotating texture for the sun rays at the end?
Thanks.

Here is a link to the page where the original was downloaded from.
Check its terms of use before using it in your own productions.

BillyJack,.
Installed Blender 2.7. Normals facing the wrong direction in Bluff... even when I flip the normals, they export the same, "backwards". My research turned up nothing. Any advice would be appreciated :)

I read about recalculating, but I can't find the command within blender and it doesn't exist in the export dialog. Do you mind telling where that command is?

You have to be in "Edit Mode" for the Remove Doubles and Recalculate menus to come up, so select the model and hit the "TAB" button. Hit "A" to select all. Left hand side of the screen will show your mess tools. Scroll down to the "Remove" palette and hit "Remove Doubles" and then just below that hit "Recalculate". Tab back out of edit mode and you should be good to go "IF" you've cleaned all the materials up. I'm assuming you are using a model someone else designed. Some materials and textures have add-on's connected to them that can cause export issues.
Here's the process 1,2 ,3
1) Hit "TAB" to enter Edit Mode
2) "A" to select all
3) Select "Remove Doubles"
4) Select "Recalculate"
5) "TAB" to exit Edit Mode
6) Export
In my tutorial, I explain the cleaning process for Materials but, I'm not quite done with it yet.

If the Mess Tools do not show up on the left side of the screen, hit "T" to open the menu.

Hey Joel, I told you wrong. I was using 6.9. I installed 7.0 and found they moved the Recalculate. Same location on the screen, but if you look to the far left you 5 tabs on the side of the Tools window. 3rd tab down under Shading/UVs you will find the recalculate button.
