Hi Guys,

I've been trying to use chromakey effect in Bluff but without success, I have a 5 minute countdown video with white numerals and black background.

I downloaded CK file of bluff and installed into effects folder, no matter what I try I can't filter the black background out.

Any help would be appreciated.

Paul.

You can place effect files anywhere you like, they do not have to be placed in the effects folder.

You can apply the effect to the active layer by pressing the CHANGE EFFECT... button or by choosing the dropdown menu item MEDIA > CHANGE EFFECT...

The problem could be the color you are trying to key. I would suggest make the background green on the source video you create to put into Bluff. Then, using the green screen crop effect, Bluff should do a great job eliminating the green background and leaving only the white letters. You can put a new background into Bluff at this point and composite the new background with your source video. Or I believe you can simply render the keyed video out as an AVI with transparency. You can then use that video on the timeline of most video editing software, simply putting whatever background you wish under it. Hope this helps.

Well the background is black and I've already tried different settings to filter it out, even on another video of a clock I tried to use transparency but even that would not take out the black background to leave just the white clock face.

As it happens I completed the video but had to edit in the countdown video with an outside editing software and there chromokey worked fine.

Obviously something is either wrong with my method I'm using or my desktop is wrong.

Cheers.

The chromakey effect is used to make a specific colour of a texture transparent.

If you you want to export your show with transparency info you have to select one of the WITH TRANSPARENCY options in the FILE > EXPORT AS MOVIE... dialog. This is a PRO feature.

Yeah, and I upgraded to pro sometime back, but the feature is either not activated or once again I'm doing something basically wrong, seems simple enough to pick one or the other (with or without transparency).

So it may now be I have done something wrong when upgrading because neither chromokey or transparency is working.

This is not a beef with Bluff, Michiel, as I just love this software.

Could it be something I have done when installing onto my new desktop possibly.

Would it help if I completely uninstalled the software and all Bixpacks I have purchased from the computer and start again. using the original update keys supplied.

I have noticed on the packs all effects are not showing.

If the FILE > EXPORT AS MOVIE... dialog has no WITH TRANSPARENCY options you are using the EASY version.

To upgrade to the PRO version enter the licence keys you received when you purchased the upgrade into the app with the menu item SETTINGS > ENTER LICENSE KEYS...

Hi Michiel, I'm already using the Pro option with the larger selection window with options for transparency or not.

I can select Easy option and it shows a very small window with only two options.

I've re-entered the supplied keys and Bluff gives a thank you message.

I'll try a couple of tests and if unsuccessful will uninstall bluff and then do a reinstall

Once again this is onto a new clean desktop system.

Thanks for your help.

Paul.
