Hi Guys,

I keeping getting this pop up on both my desk top win7-32 and laptop win7-64, I have a feeling it may be because I don't yet have v13 ultimate yet installed or is it something missing on my systems.

Thanks for any help.

Paul.

Some ideas:

Maybe your graphics card is not fully DirectX 11 compatible. To find out, start BluffTitler, hit CONTROL F1 and select the DirectX tab.

Or maybe you do have a DirectX 11 card, but you have 2 or more graphics cards and another one is selected as the default. To fix this, choose SETTINGS > OPTIONS and choose the DRIVERS tab. In the 1st dropdown you can select the graphics card BluffTitler uses.

Thank you Michiel, I'll check that out and report findings.

Just had time to check feature levels, desktop is 10.0 and laptop 10.1, would there be a work around for this or is it a case of going out and getting new graphics cards?

Thanks.

Check this Video before buying a new videocard.

This wikipage tells about the history of DirectX
en.wikipedia.org...

So YES, for the full experience of Blufftitler Version 13 a DirectX 11 card or higher is needed.
DirectX12 is newer but it requires Windows 10.

I've been trying to figure out which videocard works best with Blufftitler.

But this was not a very populair thread :(

I don't think there's a "best videocard for BluffTitler". You can find a card that's best for a specific effect, for example a card that does the fastest displacement mapping. But this very same card might perform badly with depth of field.

I recently tested on an NVIDIA GeForce GT 730 and learned that this card can do amazingly fast blurs, it seems to be build for the Camera\CameraBlur effect. For other effects I didn't notice any speed improvements.

Realtime performance is important when editing/rendering, but realize that your viewers/clients only see the rendered video file. And this video file plays fine on any graphics card.

When you make sure your graphics card supports at least DirectX 11, it will render all effects BluffTitler has to offer and you don't have to worry about anything else.

Hey, thanks Michiel for your answer.

The word "best" is not the best word I could use, I meant "over all use" with "value for money".
I know that you can't say best car or best tv or in this case best GPU.

It depends on what you need, what you want, what you are willing to pay, what you are using it for etc etc. Like you say certain effect work better on one card than the other, that is why you see in GPU tests a number of "populair" games to see which cards works "best" with that particular game.

So that is why I wanted to test it with Blufftitler and with different "shows" that use certain effects at different resolutions to see which card works with a certain effect and extrapolate why this works better on this card. And when you then have a list, you have a better insight to find a card that fits your particular needs and wants. Because at this point I don't know the relation between a used effect and the corresponding architecture of a videocard.

I have two pc's with two different AMD videocard one cost new at the time € 130,- and the other € 350,-

Here are some test results:
gpuboss.com...
hwcompare.com...
gpu.userbenchmark.com...
futuremark.com... number 44 and 69

They all say that the hd7950 is the overall faster card!
Now look at my first suggested test (see link)
The question is why is it faster, and the answer shouldn't be: it just is or random guess of videocard.

That confirms 'the best' does not exist. Everything is affair of compromise.

komies, there's no simple answer to this.

When the Camera/CameraBlur effect performs well, it means that your graphics card has a super fast pixel shader because all the action is there. Another effect may depend on a fast vertex, hull, domain or geometry shader. Or maybe it depends on a specific HLSL instruction. Or on goniometric functions. Or maybe a fast CPU. Or a fast PCI Express bus.

Most games exploit a specific effect and are fully optimized for this effect. BluffTitler is different because it offers hundreds of very different effects. For this reason it's difficult to find the ultimate graphics card for BluffTitler.

I would like to stress that the system requirements for BluffTitler are low. We aim at the average home PC. There's no need to buy a mega gaming machine.
