I'm experimenting with shows such as
\Shows\Picture Effects\ModelRepeat3.bt
which has a white background throughout.
I'm sure it will be embarrassingly obvious, but what layer/property do I change to make the colour black instead please? Actually I want it to fade from white to black near the end.
Alternatively I tried adding a Plasma layer, but ir refuses to appear!

One way that seems to work is to add a new picture layet (alias a new 'texture' - why are two names used for the same thing?). But it now covers the text. So I tried using Layer > Bring Active Layer Backward', but that doesn't have any effect.

A texture is a picture is a photo is an image is a bitmap and in BluffTitler a texture can also be a video, an animated GIF, a webcam or a TV channel:

You can change the background colour by choosing FILE > SET BACKGROUND COLOUR...

Re the wording, my small point was why not use the same word?
i.e. 'Add new Texture Layer' as well as 'Change Texture'.
Re the background, thanks, I knew it would be very simple" BTW, where do I find that in the Help?

Since all layer types can use a texture, a "texture layer" would not make sense.
For example you can change the texture of a model layer with the very same CHANGE TEXTURE button. And this texture can, of course, be a picture, a video, a webcam,...
