I like to learn how to make GIFs with my own pics. I have FFmpeg installed. A step by step guide would be greatly appreciated.

Choose FILE > EXPORT AS VIDEO... and select ANIMATED GIF.
If this does not work, you have to point BluffTitler to an external encoder. Take a look at the screenshot in the user guide:
