NextPreviousHome"Vertically/Horizontally revolved" has no smooth border

Hi, everyone. I love to use the styles "Vertically revolved" and "Horizontally revolved" together with a 360 Revolved angle. I can create nice and artistic "3d" objects from any font.

But when selecting "Vertically revolved" on the letter O, for example AND setting the "Revolved angle" to 360;0;0 the result is not smooth, but segmented in some way.
Low quality--> 8 segments showing
Normal quality --> 20 segments showing
High quality --> 32 segments showing
Super high quality --> 32 segments showing.

Somehow the "Revolved angle" only has max 32 segments to use. I tried about every Text-property, but nothing made it smoother.

How can I get the "High quality"/"Super high quality" to show a "near" perfect border, WITHOUT segments (or with more segments maybe? e.g. 64/128?).

If not possible at the moment, could this be fixed in a coming update of BT? I really love the possibilities with these styles!

The number of steps you mention is correct. Increasing them will indeed make the shape rounder, but also has its drawbacks: it is slower and requires more memory.

Making it a variable by turning it into a layer prop or an option dialog item is also problematic: it makes the app more difficult to use and also makes it possible for users to hang the app by entering 1 million steps.

Realize that for pretty much everything this app does we have to make compromises like this.

Why don't you post some beautifully animated colourful examples of your "nice and artistic 3d objects"? I would love to see what you can do with it!

Hi, Here comes an example picture from my show "Can with Lock".

1) I added a Text-layer
2) I wrote the text "LI". "L" will become the Can, "I" will become the Lock.
3) I choose style "Vertically revolved", with "Revolved angle" = 360;0;0
4) I adjusted the "Spacing" property, this moves the Lock up/down from the Can.
5) Put some nice Texture on the Text-layer
6) Animate...

Michiel, It would be fantastic if I as a user could choose to increase the amount of "segments" to 128/256 (MAX). Would it be possible for you to put an extra property to the Text-Layer (and other layers, e.g. the Vector-layer which has the same issue) and to constrain it to max 256? It would open up so many new possibilities!

At the moment I "cannot" use the "Revolved" styles, because of the segments showing. It is kind of a deal-breaker...

Regards!

Another "arty" example using a Vector-layer and style "Vertically revolved". But this could be made with a custom Font as well. Fonts have more potential (more exiting to create art from "words").

PS Michiel...

I could gladly help you to test the performance of increased steps/segments, if you could provide med with a "beta"/test-version (or other means) where I can get a smoother border.

I really want blufftitler to reach it's full potential (without destroying it ofcourse!).

Kind Regards!
