Thnx to Michiel I made a splashing show. Although I'm not fully happy with the splash but it's a start.
have you tried 3D blobs (with a trail)?
eg, a bit like this:

Depending on the 'looks' of the splash, you could try a greenscreen effect.
In this example I imported an .avi and used the V11_GreenScreen effect.
