How do you rearrange the layer stack, and how do you add a layer into some part of the stack?
i don't have any luck adding into some part of an existing stack.
I am using the ribbon show and have altered the text and want to replace the bix picture (layer). I have a cropped square pic saved as a png. when i change textures and bring it in, it doesn't physically show. There is a layer containing pic in layer stack but doesn't show in show.
Thanks
whiz
What is a stack?
Can you give an example, a picture or video can also help to understand.
Rearranging layers can be done with "ALT + [" UP or "ALT + ]" DOWN
This just move the layer number up/down to organize and make it more neatly but doesn't change the show.
In a container layer you can have several different layer types and attach other layers and all move as one by the container properties.
I would recommend that you look at the userguide, and pay special attention to the Interface so you can name and therefore look with the search option in the community. And watch the video tutorials: outerspace-software.com...

Hi Alex, you are encyclopedic, I did not remember any more this command ! nice!
(i think stack is the list)

I had to go try it but it doesn't work for me. How are you selecting the layer to move and are there circumstances where a layer can't be moved?

Question is: why do you want to rearrange the layers?
I think this is the "I want to render the moon in front of my house" question.
In a 2D app like Photoshop you can do this by placing the layer that renders the moon on top of the layer that renders the house.
In a 3D app like BluffTitler this does not work because layers are sorted by their distance to the camera layer: the moon is rendered behind the house because it is further away than the house.
To change this: make the moon the size of a football and change its position (with the POSITION property) so it's closer to the camera than the house.

i have created a show with 3 text layers, i did not notice a change of place in the list when i move their order in the 3D space (z pos). Now it depends on what whiz is speaking about : order in space or order in layers list.

The layers in the layers dropdown are sorted by layer type.
It would be very strange if the layers dropdown would be rearranged every time you move the camera.

i agree would be anoying, but no problem if they are sorted by type. I don't understand, above you said : in a 3D app like BluffTitler this does not work because layers are SORTED BY THEIR DISTANCE OF THE CAMERA LAYER: the moon is rendered .....
and here, you said they are sorted by type.

In a 2D app, the layers are rendered in the same order as they are presented in the layers window or layers dropdown.
In a 3D app however, they are sorted by the distance to the camera. That's how 3D works. To make a layer visible: move it to a position where the camera can see it.

Not sure for whiz but i was speaking about dropdown list order because as user interface object it is what the user uses to work on different layers.

This is what I was afraid of.
By a unclear question, interpretation is just around the corner and the answer gets muddy.
I asked Whiz to clarify his answer with an example, preferably by picture or video.
And asked him to look at the userguide (Interface) to correctly name the item so we know what item it is and he can now look for with the search option in this community.
Until Whiz answers I can only speculate, I can show him how to make a stack of pancakes, or how to clear his memory stack, how to make a stack of .....
We are a friendly and open community and willing to help, but some correct named item makes it easier to help the helpers to help you and to help yourself.

@Whiz
As a new (Whiz)kid on the block.
Use the User Guide and you would of found this:
The easiest way to change the pictures is to choose EDIT > Change all Textures... This displays a dialog where you can edit all pictures the show uses.
Texture is the computer graphics term for a picture or photo.
The same dialog is displayed when you click on the corresponding button in the upper right corner of the render window or press ALT + A.
press link for all info, with pictures.
