Michiel, what effect do I have to use how to attach a leather texture to a horse.x model so it can look better.
Here is a rock that i put fur on.I used .c:\Outerspace Software\BluffTitler\Media\Effects\AdvancedMaterials\Fur.cfx
and a fur texture. This helped you ?

I agree with chaver that fur can make your horse look more realistic.
In this screenshot I applied the Reflectionmap effect with the ReflectionMap_WhiteDots.jpg texture. Both can be set in the MEDIA > CHANGE EFFECT... dialog and come with the installer. (I used a dolphin model because I could not find a horse)
As you can see this looks a bit like a kinky pair of trousers. Experiment with different textures to find the leather look you are looking for.
