Hi. I'm new to the software. I can get all sorts of titles going and adding to video, but I can't seem to be able to overlay titles to my video so that it is just the words, no other pictures or anything. Are there any preset shows that can do this? All the preset shows that I have seen have pictures of video in the background but I want the text only to 'float' directly over the video that I have. Please point me in the right direction. Thank you.
You must check if the position of the text layer IS in front of the video layer. If not, you won't see the text that will be behind the video.
On the text layer, Position property, the third cursor must be nearer than the video layer's

Do I understand your question right?
You want to use existing shows for your video as text overlay, but many have other stuff in it that you not need to see?
Goto the layers dropdown (see link) click on a layer then hold CTRL+Shift keys down and use the arrow up and down to go through that show to see what each layer does. When you find something that you don't need Delete that layer (Lx button) or better unmark the visible checkbox.
When you are done then edit the text if you didn't already and export the video with transparency (use uncompressed for the best quality) It creates a large video file that you should delete after It is uses properly in your new video to save precious disk space.
Is there still something in the exported video you didn't catch, you can check it with these instructions:
A quick way to check the alpha channel is to temporarily apply the System\ViewAlphaChannel effect to the camera layer. (press F9 on the active cameras layer)
Set the FX CHECKERBOARD property to 1 in the properties dropdown, you should see a checkboard pattern with only your text.
Don't forget to remove the effect. (F9 on camera layer and press clear)
Welcome to the community Brian_100 and have fun with Blufftitler.
