I want to make text with glitters, but the glitters blinking on and off should be the only animation. I include a link to a gif file as an example.
I'm thinking if I attach particles to the text and make the speed zero, that would do the trick. However, I'm unable to make the particles stationery. No matter what launch speed is set to, the particles always shoot out of the text.
Is there another solution?
Choosing LAYER > ATTACH LAYER > ATTACH PARTICLES TO ACTIVE LAYER and selecting the SPARKLES 1 preset gives you blinking sparkles.
This preset indeed keeps on shooting new particles from new random positions. I think this looks great, but if you want to simulate the animated gif look perform the following steps:
-set the LIFETIME property to 10
-set the MIN/MAX PARTICLES property to (10,10)
-apply the Flare effect (choose MEDIA > CHANGE EFFECT...)
-set the FX FLICKER PERIOD to 1

Michiel, I followed your instructions and did'nt work.
Why don't you make an example with your own instructions?

No problem, let's do this step by step.
Here are the first 2 steps:
1) click on the NEW SHOW button
2) choose LAYER > ATTACH LAYER > ATTACH PARTICLES TO ACTIVE LAYER and select the SPARKLES 1 preset
Does this work?

Well Michiel.
That works perfectly, but no with the rest of instructions, I mean >
-set the LIFETIME property to 10
-set the MIN/MAX PARTICLES property to (10,10)
-apply the Flare effect (choose MEDIA > CHANGE EFFECT...)
-set the FX FLICKER PERIOD to 1

Maybe you tried to perform those actions on the text layer.
Instead you have to apply them to the particle layer: select the particle layer with the dropdown above the PLAY button.
I hope this solves the mystery.

I am doing that since the beginning and does not work either.
but not problem Michiel, I dont know what I am doing wrong.

Snafu, maybe you can post a pic or a video of what you obtain. Here is an alternative with colourmap layer, i don't know it that corresponds to what you are looking for, if you are interested i'll upload the show but only when official V13 will be available.

Vincent that is what I am looking for thank you!

Ok, remind me uploading it the moment coming, (when v13 non-beta will be available)

I tried to make your text. It's something different from Vincents video.
I learned a lot from the instructions that Michiel gave.
Thanx.
