I have successfully exported a good quality video (.avi) from Blufftitler. The video is 17GB in size.
When I play it using vlc player, it plays but not continuosly.
To which format do i convert it to or what do i do to it so that it plays continuosly?

The answer is: use compression.
In the FILE > EXPORT AS VIDEO... dialog choose MP4 or COMPRESSED AVI.
Another option is to choose UNCOMPRESSED AVI and use your video editing app (NLE) to convert the result to any of the compressed formats it has to offer, like WMV, MOV or MP4.

I would recommend Export as uncompressed Avi for highest Quality, and then convert to a smaller format like MP4 (h.264). outerspace-software.com...
