How do you (or can you) create an EPS file using PhotoShop. I've created the shape I want, saved it as a BMP and, of course, lost transparency when converting it with Maddis' utility tool BMP 2EPS. I then saved the shape as a GIF, preserving transparency, but that didn't work either?? When I open the EPS file in BT, it's simply a white square; when I open it in Illustrator, it's simply a black square.
Can anyone help?
You have to create a BMP file that has a white background and black wherever you want your shape. It has to be saved as a 24-bit bmp file. GIF's won't work.
I do it all the time so the answer is yes, you can make it in photoshop. The EPS file that is created by potrace should be no larger than about 7kb to 8kb. The bmp file can be quite a bit larger but you still have to look at the finished EPS size. If it's too large, re-size the bmp file and try again.

Thanks, kf! Worked great...don't know why I couldn't figure that one out. I think I was trying to save transparency rather than let Maddis' utility do it??
Anyway, thanks again.

kf_daddy is correct. You may want to resize the BMP and make it a bit smaller before running it though BMP -> EPS (this i plan to add in the next update).
2 Things to ensure:
1) Make sure that you use simple image as an image that is very complex is not likely to produce a readable EPS file (dont use pictures like in the screenshot lol!)
2) Make sure you change the Quality Setting in BluffTitler to 'low'
One last thing to take into account, if the image you want to convert is black and has a white background, then you need to change BluffTitlers background colour to white - Or you can use the invert output option in the options screen (In BMP -> EPS Utility)
Let me know how things go !!

Thanks for the tips, Maddis. It worked great, even with BT quality setting of Normal. I didn't have to change the background color in BT - just started with the default of black. I started with a black object and a white background, and your BMP ->EPS Utility must have worked it out! Thanks for the time to create this very helpful tool for us "wanna be's" to use!

Just a quick question jmarkt. was the input you converted to originally a Gif ? I havent tested this thoroughly yet, only with bmp files. Just checking that the gif conversion is working as it should.

I now have success with the utility in getting an eps file to work from CorelDraw and Photoshop Bitmaps, but the result in BluffTitler is jagged edges and text (simple logo). I downsampled the bitmaps, to get it to work but can someone tell me how they resized their files before putting them into the utility?

Goto The options screen. in in BMP 2 EPS. You can adjust the curvature of the out-putted render

You can also resize the size of the eps file in the options screen
