I think that the way I organised my files when I first installed BT ages ago was probably unsatisfactory.
For example, I see that I presently have Effects in various folders like these:
dl.dropboxusercontent.com...
Where do others keep the shows, effects, textures, etc that come from downloading or experimenting? Should they each be in just ONE folder?
Another aspect confuses me. I had assumed that if I now change my structure, many of my shows will no longer play because of invalid links to effects and texture files? Yet if I open a .BT file in my text editor, the only references I can see appear to be to WEB based files, like this:
MPA http://www.blufftitler.com/shows/Textures/sunrise.jpg
FXP http://www.blufftitler.com/shows/Effects/notlightened.fx
Any advice would be appreciated please.

Unlike smartphones and tablets that decide for you where you store your media files, your desktop computer gives you total freedom.
I advise you to use this freedom and be happy!
BluffTitler does not care where you store your media files. You can store them in any folder on any drive and even, as you do, on a webserver.
And when you want to move a show to another system, you can use the FILE > SAVE SHOW + ALL MEDIA FILES menu item. This collects all media files and places them next to your show file.

Thanks Michiel, but I don't think it's as straightforward as that.
Suppose I moved all the files (like those in my screenshot) into C:\Outerspace Software\
Would my shows now fail for the reason I gave?
And that (non-standard) location for user data would not be covered automatically by backup software. So would need additional steps.
And, as I said, I would be interested to know how other users do it.
"You can store them in any folder on any drive and even, as you do, on a webserver."
[Formating would be handy on this site!]
I didn't understand that comment as I thought I stored my files locally. But on double-checking I realise those I illustrated with my screenshot were misleading. That show was not representative. Those I've customised myself DO include local links. I'm nor clear why a downloaded show, which I've stored with its media files, show a web link?

It depends where you are moving the files to. If BluffTitler can't find a file it tries a few folders including:
-the same folder as the show file
-the media folder and its subfolders next to the show file
-the media folder and its subfolders next to the BluffTitler application
So if you move all your effects to the BluffTitler/media/effects folder it will always be able to find them.

Thanks Michiel, understood. I'll go ahead with confidence now and consolidate the various effects and textures I seem to have accumulated in different locations. And I'll add the BT program folder to my nightly backups.
