When I put a png file on to my show, it acts like a jpg file. I added a png picture of a treble clef from Bix Pack 7 expecting to see only the treble clef and not the black box around it. This png was put on top of a jpg. I want to see only the treble clef---or whatever else I put on the show as a png. How do I do this?

Hi Videomike,

I believe Michiel answered this one in the attached link, as he explained, NOT ALL PNG files ARE transparent, although that was the main concept of the filetype.

Michiel has placed a link to a transparent treble clef if you look at the link from Free Stock Photos on that page.

One easy way to tell is if you view a png in picasa viewer or similar, the background will appear to be a checkerboard which represents the transparency (eg no pixels filled)

Again as Michiel suggested most paint packages will allow you to remove the background, a common mistake made is to work with a black or white background then accidentally save it making the PNG file non-transparent.

If you are creating a png, deselect the background layer BEFORE saving it.

Hope this helps.....
