Is there a simple way of getting small caps when using text that I have missed?
I had to resort to importing from Photoshop today in order to get a Caps and small caps in a line of text.

Thanks

DD

I had to consult Wikipedia to find out what small caps means. I am aftraid I still don't understand the idea. Isn't it enough to use upper case characters with a smaller font size?

In BluffTitler you can control the font size with the FONT SIZE property.

There are many Small Cap Fonts online that are free for download. 1001Fonts.com has a directory of 300 of them. If none of those fonts work for what you want, then to generate Small Caps in Titler, the options are:
1. Best method- Import the text as an EPS or Sketch just like you did from PhotoShop or
2. If you need it editable - Make it from two text lines bound by a Container.

Here's a link to some Small Caps Fonts that you may find a text that suites your needs

@michiel, Just look in Photoshop Character Tab and you will see SmallCaps
The problem is getting the spacing right if I use BillyJack's Method 2.
@BillyJack. I have the fonts but I will try exporting as eps from Photoshop to see if there is a quality difference compared to 32K Bitmap.

Thanks

David, don't export as an eps file from PhotoShop. The Adobe eps format will not work in BluffTitler. What I meant was to save the PhotoShop file as a PNG file then open it in Titler using "Add EPS Layer". Just click on the EPS icon in BT (Looks like 3 vertices connected in a triangle just above the Layers bar) and select the png file. To do what you're wanting it should work really well.

OK now I'm confused - as you say Photoshop eps don't work in Bluff but png wont go into EPS layer. Seems that exporting the text to 32bit Bitmap (with alpha) is still the way to go, which I can do from my titler progs. All I'm doing is adding sparkles to the text (particle layer). I'm also having problems creating the Alpha with png so another tick for BMP.
Thanks

I'm lost as well. I have just download the Riky Vampdator small caps font from 1001fonts.com and it works fine in the text layer. I can choose MEDIA > CHANGE FONT and select this small caps font. I do not understand why we have to use the EPS layer.

"png won't go into EPS layer" What version of BluffTitler are you using? That's one of the coolest tricks in version 11. Both "Add EPS Layer" and "Add Sketch Layer" can import png files. I take ball player signatures, scan them into PhotoShop, trace the signatures and export the trace as a png file for use in BluffTitler so I know it works,

Michiel, if I'm not just terribly mistaken, the font style he wants just doesn't come in a prefabbed Small Caps Font. PhotoShop however has a feature that can turn any font into Small Caps.

Billy Jack is correct. Both Photoshop and my older standard titling software (Title Motion) can create Small Caps with one tick from any font. I was using Vers10 so maybe that was why I had a problem with png.
I think we can safely say the answer is no and the next time I need to do this it will be as I have done in the past.
BJ is your signature trace to get a handwriting effect?

DigitalDave, 10 years ago

It's not a hand writing effect, it's the actual players signatures scanned into PhotoShop and import to BluffTitler 11 in png format as a Sketch Layer.
