I have been having a hard time with lighting. I have read a lot here and I am still not getting it right.
Right now I am trying to have a light streak or even a flare follow text sketch. I can attach a flare to the writing which leads the animation. When I attach the texture I get it in a box even though it is a png file and you should be able to see through it.
My next issue is getting it to light. I am using flare.fx
I think I am not grasping the basics of lights and flares.
In another project I am trying to turn headlights on. What would I do to accomplish this?

The flare effect renders your texture with additive blending. This can't be used with a transparent PNG.

When you want to use your transparent PNG file, remove the effect in the F9 dialog.

Another option is to paint the transparent parts of your PNG black in Photoshop and keep using the flare effect.

What do you mean with "headlights on"?

Maybe it's better to post 1 question per article.

Let me try my question this way.
Lets say I have an underline under text and I want a light (flare) to move across it brightly. How would I do this?

In King of bling one the line has light that moves. How is that done?

By using the FX SPEED property of the flare effect.

Ok. I think I am getting it! I was using the wrong flare.fx When I switched to the same one that is in the bixpak I had a lot more options!
So light is not really light at all is it? In this case it is a picture of a flare.
