I have an image of a car that is a .png
I have another image of a color pattern that I want to attach to the car so that the car is that texture. I tried a jpg and png for that.
I used the multi texture fx The car is the first texture and the pattern the second. But all i get is the image of the pattern.
What am I missing here?

So the picture of the car defines the alpha channel?

I think this is the effect you are looking for:

I use Adobe Elements on Mac and Corel Paint Shop pro on Windows. According to what I just read, yes the alpha channel should be saved when I save as a png. Unless I am missing something there too. I am new to this.
When I am trying this now, the 2nd file comes up, but in black and white, it is still covering the photo as a square and not "adhearing" to the car. I can adjust the transparency but not what I am going for. I want the color pattern to be the same shape etc as the car.
How can I be sure the png has the alpha channel?

So you want to copy the alpha channel of the picture of the car to the picture of the pattern?

I want to change the color of the car to the color and pattern of the 2nd texture. (which is a paisley pattern)

This is exactly what this effect does.

Place a picture of your pattern in the 1st texture slot.

Place a picture of a white car on top of a black background in the 2nd texture slot.

Apply the Alpha.fx effect.

You can do all this in the F9 dialog.

Use a video or your webcam instead of the pattern picture and the fun really starts.

That would be fun. Just one other question. How do I show the rest of the picture? How do I allow part of the original picture to show? I need to see the tires which is in my original picture.

I would place another picture layer using a transparent PNG on top of it.
