NextPreviousHomeChanging flat text to 3D?

I've not yet found what must be a very obvious setting!

I have the Text Layer selected and the 3 settings on the left are initially:
Centre
Vertical Align Centre
Flat

I changed Flat to Solid (also tried others like Straight Bevel, etc) but the colour has remained the same in all areas. How do I get the sides etc to show up in a different colour please?

I tried other Layers and Properties but so far the penny hasn't dropped.

Try clicking the ATTACH BORDER TO ACTIVE LAYER button and select, for example, the RED BORDER preset.

This creates a new layer attached to the active layer. When you select this attached layer (with the dropdown above the PLAY button) you can adjust its properties, including the colour.

Thanks Michiel. I've now managed to get a 'border' and I'll experiment further.

Should you perform the attachment when the text is still 'Flat' or change it to some £D style first?

When your text uses the FLAT style it switches to INSIDE FLAT and adds a border with the OUTLINE FLAT style.

Another common combination is INSIDE with OUTLINE NO BEVEL.

But any combination is possible. Don't be afraid of experimenting. You can change the styles with the 3rd dropdown below the textbox.

The screenshot below shows one aspect that I'm having particular difficulty with.
