First I would like to say how much I like your program as to me, it seems more genuinely 3D than a lot of others on the market.

Your userguide suggests that it's woth experimenting with different encoders and shows a little window headed
Select DirectShow Encoder Filter and a little drop down menu.

When I choose File> Export movie in BluffTitler, I don't get this option. And in the Set Show Size window, the custom drop down menu doesn't mention Microsoft Video 1 . I would be grateful if you could advise how to locate the window you refer to, please

First I would like to say that, for maximum quality, you should postpone compression to the very end: when you press the burn DVD or publish online button in your NLE.

Only when your BluffTitler generated video file is the final product using compression makes sense.

When you select the COMPRESSED AVI radio button in the FILE > EXPORT AS MOVIE... dialog, a new dialog is presented allowing you to choose any encoder filter installed on your system.

Dear Michiel
Thank you for your prompt reply.

Upto a few months ago, I used a Sony digital camcorder using mini DV tapes
and edited the footage in the video editing program Adobe Premiere 6.5 which was included in the package Pinnacle DV500 DVD.
The clips were PAL 720 by 576,
ratio 4 by 3
pixel ratio was 1.0667
field order was lower field first.
And I was very pleased with the titles I imported from the BluffTitler program.

I then purchased a Sony HD camcorder which records in the AVCHD format
and consequently went in for the video editing program Canopus Edius 5. And before editing my
clips, I convert them from AVCHD to Canopus HQ fine and then edit them in Edius. So the clips are now :
PAL, 1920 by 1080
ratio 16 by 9
pixel aspect 1.000
field order : top field first
I then export from Edius as MPEG generic files and use Nero to make DVDs

I have now got to grips with learning the Edius program and would like to go back to using BluffTitler for the titles. But wou;d very much welcome your advice on the best settings for exporting the titles from BlufTitler so that I can import them into Edius, ie.
1. should I choose the PAL rendering option or go for progressive
2. in the Set Show Size, should I go for HDV 1920 by 1080 or PAL DVD widescreen

I find the settings are the hardest part so any advice you can give will be very much appreciated

The PAL DVD widescreen preset uses a resolution of 720 x 576 so that's not what you want.

You should use the HD 1920 by 1080 preset.

Latest versions of BluffTitler no longer feature field rendering export. Export in double framerate (50 fps for PAL) and let your NLE do the field rendering.

If you are using an old version that offers the option to export with field rendering I advise you not to use field rendering. Select progressive, double the framerate (50 fps for PAL) and let your NLE do the field rendering.
