Bragina asked about masking a photo and posted an example. This is not a finished show, just an example of a possible way to get the effect. A solid color background seems to work best.

There are 2 copies of the background solid. The bottom copy fills the screen. Next comes the photo layer which moves across the screen during the show. The top layer is the second copy of the solid which in this show covers only the left half of the screen. The photo slides between the 2 solid layers and finally disappears.
