NextPreviousHomeSingle light beam and flash

Greetings - I sure hope I can describe this question properly! I have used a string of sparklers zipping
across the bottom of my screen to create a trail of stars that reveals my text as it disppears - this works great. But as soon as the stars fade out I would like to have a bright horizontal line (I guess like a laser, sort of) that would be in the middle of the text, and would expand and then flash very quickly - kind of like a flash cube I suppose, as the stars fade out. I have been working on this for several hours, and I am not clicking on anything close yet. Can anyone point me in the general direction to go? Thanks for any input. B-)

Why don't you use a picture layer to create the "bright horizontal line" and animate the colour property to make it flash?

You can design the shape of the line in any paint application.

And you might want to use this effect:

NotLightened_Additive.fx

Press the CHANGE EFFECT... button to apply this effect to the active layer.

Oh, thanks michiel - those are great ideas (again!) I must confess that I have not used the effects that much, still learning the ropes - I forget about them. I will try out the effects option - and I know doing a png of a line and then animating it should work as well. Thanks again.
