Using as an example, LightBeams5.bt, is there any way to make the beam from the Point Light softer or diffuse it, something like with a fog effect? If so, how?
I find the beams very harsh.
Thanks,
Hi Michiel,
Thanks for your quick response. That does indeed help, but I still find it harsh; the lines are evident. In the image, Beam Colour is 6,8,22.
Anything else that could help?
Thanks,
John

So you want light beams without lines?
We could add a gravity layer to bend the light. This will turn the straight lines into curves, but it will still be lines.
Google image search also thinks light beams is about lines:

I don't speak for JCB but i was thinking to softer rays like this. A little like a light ray thru a window in room with smoke or dust.

Michiel,
The first image in your link is softer as shown here, and as shown by Vincent. Not a big deal, but I just thought that I was maybe missing something, being far from an expert on BluffTitler.
Of course, the light beams in the image are not going through text, so maybe that is a difference.

The beams can be softened by applying the Camera\CameraBlur effect to the camera layer.
In this screenshot, to keep the text sharp, I have rendered the beams in a colourmap layer and rendered the result with additive blending on top of the main scene. The media files are attached to this article.

Works fine but it requires moving both cameras at the same time. Thank you for the tip

Your solution is great Michiel. How did you do got this idea. It's great and looks simple.

Brilliant Michiel! Thank you.
For others, Michiel added the bt file to my first post with the solution.
This is a 2 for 1 deal. Under the Colourmap camera layer, turn off the text to see another variant with less light.
