NextPreviousHomeVacuum Effect?

Is there anybody out there with a lot more BT ability than I have who would like to try something for me? I'm looking for an effect that would take my Title (Let's use the words Bluff Titler as an example) and then have a tube shape come down from the top and suck the letters up the tube and off the screen like a vacuum. It could almost be like Yousef's Vertical Disintegration in reverse.

Idealy I would like to apply a sand or dirt texture to the letters and have a transparent background. That way, the text effect could be placed over another video and it could look like the "dirt letters" got broken up into pieces and vacuumed up.

I can do this, but it's not done in BT, although BT was used to do the text, tube, and output the numbered sequence files.

KF Daddy - Very nice!!! That is pretty much what I am looking for. For my purposes, it would be best if the vacuum tube came from the top rather than the side but the effect you came up with looks great. Obviously the advantage of it being a BT file is that the text could be changed easily.

something more like this?

this is a little rough yet and I didn't put in the vacuum hose.

still, unfortunately, can only do so much in BT, the rest I have to do in particle illusion.

I Like It! This could work quite nicely for me. I take it the broken up pieces are what is done in particle illusion. Unfortunately, I don't own PI. I have to give a talk on "Vacuum Excavation" which is why I wanted to be able to change the words.

On a side note, how easy is PI to work with? I tried their free download but did not have enough time to play with it before my trial period ran out.

PI has a pretty steep learning curve. I'm still learning, hehe. I have some very good tutorials that I refer to pretty often. Kinda like BT, I know just enough to be dangerous :)

The new link below is a somewhat finished version. Very minor tweaking is needed but I think it's close to what you want. It's 30 seconds long. About 1.5MB

Send me a link to the title that you want to "suck up" and I can replace the BT text with yours. Or email it to me at bucket7_99 at yahoo dot com with any special requirements you might have. Things like the background color, length of time, the deadline you're under :-) , if you have a vacuum hose you'd like to use, stuff like that.

Because of the way I do the effect, it does need a solid background but I can make it any color.

Thanks again. You are very kind to do this. The text I would like to have is Vacuum Excavation. Just a plain background color would be fine. Whatever shows off the text nicely. It will most likely be used for a talk I am giving on December 3 and will be the intro for a PowerPoint presentation projected at the front of the room. The vaucuum hose you used in your last link is great.

Thanks again. My email is chrisandcarol83 at verizon dot net

Just a thought, what would it look like (and is it even possible) to have the "dirt" sucked up and leave behind a wire frame version of the text? In other words, could it be made to look like the inside of the letters was sucked up but you could still see the outline of the text?

SoCal Chris, 15 years ago

I can do the wireframe.

I will post a link here or send the file to your email addy.

The link below is what I plan to have it look like at the start. What will be left is the white outline. I'll do 2 letters at a time to keep the time frame at roughly 30 seconds.

THAT IS AWESOME!!!! I have seen so many excellent examples of peoples work in the Gallery. I only wish I had the talent that people like you show. Thank you again.
